Hi, I’m Julie. First and foremost mum of 3 crazy, fun loving, energetic, adventurous small humans (1 boy & 2 girls) and they certainly keep me on my toes!
I’m the trainer for Camberley, Fleet & Basingstoke which actually covers quite a large area, including; Theale, Bucklebury, Aldermaston, Baughurst, Litchfield, Whitchurch, Upton Grey, Hartley Wintney, Hook, Burghfield Common, Farnborough, Aldershot, Mytchett, Ash, Frimley, Deepcut, Church Crookham, Blackwater and everywhere in-between.
Here are 5 things about me…
Why I became a Daisy First Aid Trainer….
When my son was born 7 years ago, myself and my partner took part in a family first aid course in London which is where I first heard of Daisy,
When we moved to Hampshire I was trying to find something that would fit in around my family life and saw an advert for a trainer which the previous owner of the Camberley territory had advertised, so I got in touch.
I had taken part in several first aid courses from a professional childcare perspective, so knew the importance of first aid and had firsthand experience with various situations.
I worked as a trainer for a few years and loved it, so when the opportunity came to purchase my own territory I grabbed it with both hands and haven’t looked back!
My background/own experience…
Before having my own children, I worked with children as a nanny and amongst other roles over the years. I had already completed Paediatric First Aid training 3 times and First aid at work too, so I had experience various different situations and always really understood the importance of it.
I had my own children and there it was again, right at the front of my mind so it made sense to put the skills and knowledge to good use and train with Daisy First Aid to share my knowledge and experiences to help others.
What I love about teaching…
I just love to help people in any way I can. I’m so proud to say that I teach people how to save lives, that’s something pretty special!
I feel extremely privileged to be in this position to share my knowledge and skills to enable parents, grandparents and carers to feel more empowered and confident with the information I leave them with.
My proudest moment…
My proudest moment is hard to pinpoint as with my 3 small humans they make me proud every day!
Most recently, when my daughter, Maddie, went off to her rainbows class, they were be taught first aid. The rainbows leader told me that Maddie very proudly stood up and said “I know what to do! My mummy is a first aid teacher!” Bless her little cottons!
We’ve practised with the manikins at home so the kids know what to do, just in case!
Something fun/interesting/ or important about me….
I used to be a scuba diver. I’ve logged over 50 dives, my deepest being 32m!
I’ve seen sharks, whales, dolphins, manatees and so much more.
I feel so incredibly lucky to have had those experiences and hope to resume one day. Otherwise, I’d describe myself as fairly spontaneous and fun. I love a dance!
