Hello, I’m Dani, the local Daisy First Aid Trainer for Eastbourne, Uckfield, Newhaven & the surrounding areas.
Here are 5 things about me…
Why I became a Daisy First Aid Trainer….
I first heard about Daisy First Aid when I saw an advert from a crew colleague, asking for freelance teachers, so I made some enquiries but unfortunately she wasn’t based in my area.
I was interested to learn more about this opportunity but when I looked into it, there was no Daisy in my area & that got me thinking!
I got in touch with a few crew colleagues who were either franchisees or freelance trainers & bombarded them with questions & I really liked what I heard.
It sounded like a great company to work with/for, with lots of people (just like me) who needed a lot flexibility around childcare.
My background/own experience…
I have worked for a well known British airline for over 20 years – more than half of them as cabin crew. As you can imagine crew have quite extensive first aid training, as once that door closes & we are up in the air, we have to be able to deal with anything from cardiac arrest, to childbirth to anaphylaxis.
When Covid hit & no-one was flying anywhere, I joined the NHS for a year & trained as a Covid Vaccinator, which was very interesting!
Once the vaccination centre in my area closed, I joined the Schools Immunisations team for a while, before returning to flying.
Prior to joining the airline, I also worked as a Lifeguard for 5 years.
What I love about teaching…
I am really enjoying being party of the Daisy family & I love seeing the participants reaction at the end of the class, when they realise they are leaving me, armed with the knowledge & confidence to act in an emergency situation.
My 2 proudest moments…
1) The look on my parents faces when my husband and I did a Viennese Waltz for our first dance on our wedding day – they were dance teachers, but I had never learnt to dance myself – Jon & I went off to have lessons in secret, for our big day!
2) The birth of our beautiful daughter, who is now 4 years old & the light of our lives.
Something fun/interesting/ or important about me….
A fun fact about me – I am a Padi DiveMaster & Master Scuba Diver!
What I offer & where…
I offer 2 hour parent First Aid Classes, both at venues in my area or in the comfort of your own home (minimum of 4 people for this).
I also offer fun, interactive online Zoom classes – both for the 2 hour parent class & also a 1 hour Baby Essentials class.
