- Paediatric First Aid Course (blended learning) – £108 per person
- Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course – £90 per person
Details:
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (with blended learning) is suitable for preschool, nursery practitioners, childminders, nannies and other childcare professionals. The course meets the requirements for EYFS, Ofsted, Education Scotland and CIW.
Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is also available – this course is 6 hours practical only and does not include the online blended learning module detailed below.
On successful completion of the course, the candidate will receive a certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Both courses are accredited by the CPD Standards Office and CPD certificates are available upon request.
Daisy First Aid first aid kits are available to purchase from your trainer.
What you will learn:
This course covers how to help a baby or child who:
- is unresponsive and breathing
- is unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- is choking
- is bleeding
- is suffering from shock
- is burnt or has a scald
- is having a seizure
- has an object in their eye, ear or nose
Or has a medical emergency*, including:
- meningitis
- has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
- diabetic emergency
- asthma attack
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
- an injury to a bone muscle or joint including spinal injuries
- a head injury
- has swallowed something harmful.
The course also includes basic adult first aid skills, details on accident reporting and administering medication for those working in a childcare setting.
(*not included in the Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course)
Assessment:
Online learning modules to be completed as needed before attending the face to face date.
Continuous assessment by trainer during a face to face practical training and assessment class.
